New day and a new park

Today we ventured to a beautiful park about 2 km away from our house.  Last week, we walked along side of the park  on our way home from ice cream in the town centre but we didn't take time to explore it.  Today, while Bill was at work, the kids and I set out on our journey.

This park was truly a gem!  It's called Kronenburger Park.  (www.facebook.com/kronenburgerpark)    It was the hottest day since the kids and I arrived - about 80 degrees F.  Everyone was out sitting on the hillsides enjoying the nature.   Right next to the playground was a little farm that had chickens, peacocks, deer, lambs, and goats!  Quite different from our parks back in America.   After playing on the playground equipment, we continued to look around the park.  We discovered several bridges, a tucked away waterfall, and even baby swans that were just born last week.  We went down to the water edge and the kids were able to hand feed several of the ducks that were swimming about.

This evening, during dinner, one of our neighbors came by to introduce himself and his wife.  He brought us a "housewarming gift"...two beautiful rib-eye steaks!  I could get used to this.  I'm looking forward to dinner tomorrow night!

After dinner, I laced up my bright purple Brooks sneakers and went out on my first Dutch run.  While we've been walking a whole lot, this was the first time that I got in a run in the city.  It's going to take me some time to get used to navigating around all of the bikers.  Tonight's route took me across the bridge that leads out of town - yes you read right...I deliberately ran across a bridge (hills!!!) and the view was well worth it.  While I didn't go running until 9 pm, it was still light out and the sun was starting to descend over the Waal River.  I had to stop half way across the bridge to snap a picture of the city!  I can certainly get used to these views while pounding the pavement.  The only downfall with tonight's run was that I accidently took the wrong iPod and I had to run to Taylor Swift, Miley, and KidsBop.
