Whirlwind Week in Nijmegen

Here we go backtracking a bit.  It's now Friday and we haven't had constant internet access since Monday morning, when we checked out of the City Hotel of Oss.

On Monday, our relocation specialist met us at the City Hotel and Kayla and I rode with her down to Nijmegen, our new town!  Yes, you read correctly...we moved to the most amazing town that we visited the weekend before.

Nijmegen is one of the (if not the) oldest established cities in The Netherlands.  It's full of chapels, churches, old historic buildings, and dates back over 2,000 years!  It's located along the Waal River, that connects to the Rhine.  It's also a big university town so there are a lot of expats and people who speak English.

Our condo is breathtaking!  We are located 4 floors up on a beautiful tree lined street.  We've got beautiful views all around us and from our back balcony, you can see Sit. Stevenskerk, which is a magnificent 14th century church.  In the town centre, we've found our favorite place the frequent - the local ice cream parlor!  Our condo is 2 miles from the town square and we are located nearby several parks (one that even has deer and farm animals that live there).  We've had a blast exploring our new town!
Also, there is much to look forward to in the next few weeks.  Leave it to us to move to a town that hosts one of the biggest festivals in all of the country!  The town hosts Vierdaagse in July.   It is a 4 day walk and thousands of people walk a minimum of 30k per day.  Thousands of other people come to cheer them on and to celebrate with parties, dancing, concerts, and much more!  This year the festival starts on July 13 and goes til the 19th. We are looking forward to experiencing the town tradition from a local perspective!  www.4daagse.nl

Here's a few pictures of our wonderful condo!   If you look closely in the second picture, you'll spot Bill and the kids up in the top window.
